Connecting your Cloud Storage
Connecting Cloud Storage
JGID integrates with several cloud storage providers, allowing you to automatically store documents in your own cloud storage instead of within JGID.
You can choose from:
- Dropbox
- Google Drive
- Microsoft OneDrive
Once connected, JGID will automatically create folders and save documents to your selected cloud storage account.
Connect Cloud Storage During Account Setup
When you first log into a new JGID account, you'll see a Connect Cloud Storage button on your dashboard.
Clicking this button will take you directly to the Add Ons page, where you can connect your preferred cloud storage provider.
This is the quickest way to complete the setup for new accounts.
Connect or Change Cloud Storage Later
You can connect or change your cloud storage provider at any time.
- Click the Settings (⚙️) icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Add Ons.
- Choose the cloud storage provider you wish to connect:
- Dropbox
- Google Drive
- Microsoft OneDrive
Follow the prompts to authorise the connection.
Which Cloud Storage Provider Should I Choose?
All three integrations offer the same core functionality within JGID.
The best choice usually depends on which platform your business already uses.
- Dropbox – Ideal for businesses already using Dropbox for file storage.
- Google Drive – Great for businesses using Google Workspace.
- Microsoft OneDrive – Recommended for organisations using Microsoft 365.
Your documents remain stored within your own cloud storage account.
We Recommend Connecting Xero First
If you plan to integrate JGID with Xero, we recommend connecting your Xero account before you begin building your inventory or creating quotes.
When Xero is connected first:
- Your Xero Chart of Accounts is available within JGID.
- You can assign Account Codes as you create your inventory items.
- Your invoices will be correctly coded when exported to Xero.
This saves time later and avoids having to edit inventory items after they've already been created.
Tip: A good setup order for new accounts is:
- Connect Xero (if applicable).
- Connect your preferred cloud storage provider.
- Build your inventory.
- Start creating quotes and jobs.
Best Practice
For the smoothest setup experience:
- Connect Xero before building your inventory (if you use Xero).
- Connect your preferred cloud storage provider before creating documents.
- Use the cloud storage platform your business already works with.
- Review your storage location before uploading documents.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change my cloud storage provider later?
Yes.
You can return to Settings → Add Ons at any time to connect a different cloud storage provider.
Can I connect more than one cloud storage provider?
Only one cloud storage provider can be active for a JGID account at a time.
If you need to switch providers, simply connect the new one through the Add Ons page.
Which cloud storage provider is best?
There is no "best" option.
Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive all provide the same integration with JGID. The right choice depends on which platform your business already uses.
Why should I connect Xero before creating my inventory?
Connecting Xero first allows JGID to import your Chart of Accounts.
This means you can assign the correct Account Codes while creating your inventory items, making your invoice export process much smoother later on.
