Connecting to Google Drive
Connect JGID to Google Drive
Connecting JGID to Google Drive allows your files to be stored directly in your own Google Drive instead of within JGID. Once connected, JGID can automatically create folders and save documents to the location you choose.
Important: JGID stores files in your Google Drive account. Your files remain under your control.
Before You Start
You'll need:
- A Google account or Google Workspace account.
- Permission to connect third-party applications (if required by your organisation).
If you're using Google Workspace, you can choose to save files into either:
- My Drive (your personal drive)
- A Shared Drive (team drive), if your organisation has one.
Step 1 – Open the Cloud Storage Settings
- Click the Settings (⚙️) icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Add Ons.
- Click Connect.
Step 2 – Sign in with Google
Select the Google account you want to connect.
This can be either:
- A personal Google account.
- A Google Workspace account.
Step 3 – Approve the Connection
During the connection process, Google may display a warning stating that the application has not been verified by Google.
This is expected.
Click:
- Advanced
- Go to JGID (unsafe)
This warning simply means Google hasn't completed its verification process for JGID. It does not mean the application is unsafe.
Step 4 – Grant Permissions
Google will ask you to grant JGID permission to access your Google Drive.
You'll see several permission requests.
Make sure you allow all requested permissions, including:
See, edit, create and delete all of your Google Drive files
Important: This permission is required so JGID can automatically create folders, organise documents and upload files into your chosen location.
Although the permission sounds broad, JGID does not browse through or analyse your existing Google Drive files. The permission simply allows JGID to manage the files and folders that it creates on your behalf.
Click Continue to proceed.
Step 5 – Choose Your Storage Location
Once the connection is complete, you'll be asked where JGID should store your files.
You can choose either:
- My Drive – Store files in your personal Google Drive.
- Shared Drive – Store files in a shared team drive (Google Workspace only).
Select the location that best suits your business.
You're Connected!
Once you've selected your storage location, your Google Drive connection is complete.
From this point onwards, JGID will automatically create folders and save documents into the location you've selected.
