Understanding Connected vs Enabled Users

Overview

In JGID, a user can be Connected or Disconnected, and Enabled or Disabled.

These are two separate settings that control different aspects of a user's access.

Understanding the difference helps you manage users without deleting historical records or removing them from schedules.

Connected Users

A Connected user can access your company's JGID account (provided they are also enabled).

If a user is Disconnected, they will no longer be able to log in to your company's account.

Disconnecting a user removes your company from their list of available JGID accounts but does not disable their user profile.

Enabled Users

An Enabled user is allowed to sign in.

A Disabled user cannot log in until they have been enabled again.

Disabling a connected user is useful when someone is temporarily away from the business but might return again in the future.

Can I Still Schedule a Disconnected User?

Yes. As long as their profile is enabled/active

Even if a user is disconnected from your company their user profile can still be retained for historical records and scheduling purposes.

This helps preserve the integrity of past Jobs, Worksheets and Timesheets.

And it allows you to schedule workers, do their Worksheets and Timesheets, without giving them a log in.

When Should I Disconnect a User?

Consider disconnecting a user when:

  • They have permanently left your organisation.
  • They should no longer see your company in their list of available JGID accounts.
  • You want to remove their access without deleting historical records.

When Should I Disable a User?

Consider disabling a user when:

  • They are on extended leave.
  • They temporarily don't require access.
  • You want to prevent logins without changing their company connection.

Best Practice

Avoid deleting user profiles unless absolutely necessary.

Keeping former users connected to historical records helps maintain the integrity of Jobs, Worksheets, Timesheets and audit trails.
