Quoting Multiple Options - Hide the Total at the bottom
Overview
Sometimes your client would like to compare two or more options before deciding which work to proceed with.
JGID gives you two simple ways to present multiple options, depending on how you intend to carry out the work.
Option 1 – Create Multiple Quote Versions
If each option could become a separate Job, the best approach is to create multiple versions of the Quote.
Each version remains as its own document, allowing your client to approve the option they want.
Once accepted, each Quote can be converted into its own Job without affecting the others.
This is the recommended approach when the options are significantly different or may be awarded independently.
Option 2 – Include Multiple Options on One Quote
If your client prefers to receive a single document showing all available options, JGID has a unique feature that makes this easy.
Under the Conditions & Details tab, you can configure the PDF settings to hide the Quote total at the bottom of the Quote.
This allows you to present something like:
- Option 1 – $1,000
- Option 2 – $2,000
Without displaying a combined total of $3,000 at the bottom of the document.
This creates a much cleaner proposal and avoids confusing the client with a total that doesn't represent the work they'll actually approve.
Why Managers Love This
Many businesses need to provide alternative solutions to their clients, such as repair versus replacement, basic versus premium options, or staged works.
Being able to present multiple priced options on a single professional-looking Quote helps clients compare their choices more easily while avoiding misleading totals.
It's a simple feature that can make your proposals look far more polished than those produced by many other quoting systems.
Best Practice
- Use multiple Quote versions if each option may become its own Job.
- Use one Quote with multiple options if you simply want the client to choose between alternatives.
- If using a single Quote, remember to hide the grand total in the PDF settings under the Conditions & Details tab.
