Creating a Contact
Overview
There are two ways to create a Contact in JGID.
You can either create a Contact directly from the CRM, or create one while recording a New Enquiry.
Both methods create exactly the same Contact record within your CRM.
Method 1 - Create a Contact from the CRM
Creating a Contact directly from the CRM is useful when you're setting up your customer database or adding new people before work begins.
Simply open the CRM, select Contacts, then choose New Contact and enter the Contact's details.
Once created, the Contact can be linked to one or more Clients and one or more Locations.
Method 2 - Create a Contact from a New Enquiry
If you're recording a New Enquiry and can't find the Contact you're looking for, simply create a new Contact without leaving the Enquiry.
When the Enquiry is saved, the Contact is automatically added to your CRM.
If you've also created a new Client and Location during the Enquiry, all three records will automatically be linked together.
Many businesses find this to be the quickest and most natural way to grow their CRM.
Building Relationships
Contacts can also be created while viewing a Client or a Location.
From either record you can choose to:
- Add New Contact to create a brand-new Contact.
- Add Existing Contact to link a Contact that already exists in your CRM.
This allows a single Contact to be associated with multiple Clients and multiple Locations without creating duplicate records.
Note: Contacts can be linked to Clients and Locations, however you cannot create or link Clients or Locations from within the Contact record itself.
Best Practice
- Create one Contact record for each person.
- Use Add Existing whenever the Contact already exists.
- Keep phone numbers and email addresses up to date.
- Build relationships rather than duplicate records.
