Completing a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
Overview
Many businesses require a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to be completed before work begins.
The JGID Business Mobile App allows supervisors and authorised users to review, edit, sign and finalise the Job's JHA directly from site.
Depending on your company's procedures, a JHA may be completed:
- At the start of each Job.
- Daily before work begins.
- Whenever the scope of work changes.
Some businesses may choose not to use this feature, while others may use the JGID Forms App to complete more advanced safety documentation such as custom JHAs, SWMS, SSSPs, RAMS, Toolbox Talks or other site-specific forms.
Opening the JHA
From the scheduled Job:
- Open the Job.
- Select JHA.
The JHA will display the project details together with the safety information configured for the Job.

Reviewing the JHA
Before finalising the document, review the information carefully.
Depending on your configuration, this may include:
- Project details.
- Scope of works.
- Activity description.
- Team members.
- High Risk Work confirmation.
- Hazards and control measures.
If changes are required, select Edit Again before finalising.
Signing the JHA
When you're satisfied that the JHA is correct:
- Select Finalise.
- Sign as the person completing the JHA.
- Add signatures for other team members, if required.
The primary user signs twice:
- Once on the front page of the document.
- Once as part of the employee signature section.
Additional team members can then sign the document.
Adding Non-JGID Users
If people on site are not users of JGID, they can still sign the JHA.
For example:
- Client representatives.
- Site supervisors.
- Principal contractors.
- Other subcontractors.
Simply enter their name, position and signature when prompted.
Saving the JHA
Once finalised, a signed PDF is automatically saved to the Job's connected cloud storage folder.
This provides a permanent record of the completed safety documentation.
Apple Devices
When previewing the JHA PDF on Apple devices, you may not see a Close button.
Simply swipe the PDF left, right, up or down to dismiss the preview and return to the app.
For more information, see Closing PDF Previews on Apple Devices.
Best Practice
- Complete the JHA before work begins if required by your company.
- Review the document each day if your procedures require daily sign-off.
- Ensure all required people have signed before commencing work.
- If your business uses the JGID Forms App for safety documentation, follow your company's established safety procedures.
