Completing a Daily Labour Summary (DLS)
Overview
After saving your Worksheet, you'll have the option to complete a Daily Labour Summary (DLS) immediately or come back to it later.
The Daily Labour Summary records what was completed during the shift and provides an opportunity to capture customer sign-off, billable materials, instruments, consumables and other information required for invoicing or job progress tracking.
Once finalised, a signed PDF is automatically saved to the Job's connected cloud storage folder.
Opening the Daily Labour Summary
After saving your Worksheet, choose:
- Complete DLS Now, or
- Do DLS Later.
You can also open the DLS at any time from the Job in the Calendar within the JGID Business Mobile App.
Recording Billable Items
Depending on how your Job has been configured, you may be able to record:
- Materials
- Instruments
- Consumables
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Only items that are included in the Job Scope can be added to the Daily Labour Summary.
This prevents technicians from accidentally invoicing items that were never quoted or approved.
Adding Materials
To record materials used:
- Select the material.
- Enter the quantity used.
- Click Add to List.
Repeat this process for each material used during the shift.
Important:
Entering a quantity alone does not add the material to the DLS.
You must click Add to List before saving.
Recording Equipment and Consumables
If your business charges for equipment, instruments, consumables or PPE, these can also be recorded on the Daily Labour Summary.
For example, if an instrument is charged on a daily hire rate, simply record the number of days it was used.
These entries assist with invoicing and job progress tracking.
Final Day
If this is the final day of the Job, you can indicate this by selecting Final Day Today.
This allows the office to identify that the scheduled work has been completed.
General Comments
A general comments section is available for recording any additional information about the day's work.
Comments can be entered by typing or by using your device's voice-to-text feature.
These comments are included on the Daily Labour Summary.
Previewing and Finalising
Before finalising, you'll be able to preview the Daily Labour Summary.
If you need to make changes, select Edit Again.
When you're happy with the document:
- Select Finalise.
- Sign as the company representative.
- Ask the customer representative to enter their name and signature (if required).
- Finalise the document.
A signed PDF is automatically saved to the Job's connected cloud storage folder.
For privacy and security reasons, JGID does not store signature images within the software.
If you reopen a completed Daily Labour Summary in JGID, all recorded information—including hours, materials, billable items and comments—will still be available. However, the signature fields will appear blank.
The only signed copy of the Daily Labour Summary is the PDF stored in your connected cloud storage.
For this reason, we strongly recommend connecting a supported cloud storage provider before using signed documents.
For more information, see Understanding Signed Documents.
Apple Devices
When previewing the PDF on Apple devices, you may not see a Close button.
Simply swipe the PDF left, right, up or down to dismiss the preview and return to the app.
This is normal behaviour for iOS PDF previews.
Best Practice
- Complete the DLS before leaving site whenever possible.
- Only record materials and equipment actually used.
- Remember to click Add to List for every item you add.
- Capture the customer's signature while they are still on site.
- Connect a supported cloud storage provider before using signed documents.
- Remember that signed copies are only stored in your connected cloud storage.
