Assigning Technicians to a Job
Overview
Once a Job has been scheduled, you can assign one or more technicians to complete the work.
There are two ways to assign technicians, depending on whether you're working with the original scheduled Job or creating a split Job.
Assigning Technicians to a Scheduled Job
After dragging a Job from the Job Queue into the Scheduler, the Job will be scheduled but no technicians will be assigned.
To assign technicians:
- Click the scheduled Job.
- Click the Edit button.
- Click Add Workers for this Job.
- Select one or more technicians from the list.
- Click Add.
- Click Save.
The selected technicians will be assigned for the full duration of the scheduled Job.
For example, if the Job is scheduled for four days, each assigned technician will initially be scheduled for the same four-day period.
Adjusting Individual Technician Durations
After technicians have been assigned, you can adjust each technician's schedule independently.
Simply drag the start or end of an individual technician's allocation to shorten or extend their time on the Job.
For example, you might have:
- Technician A working for all four days.
- Technician B working for the first two days only.
- Technician C joining on day three and working until the Job is completed.
This gives you complete flexibility when planning changing crew requirements throughout a Job.
Assigning Technicians While Creating a Split Job
When creating a split Job, technicians can be assigned during the scheduling process.
To do this:
- Highlight the required dates in the Scheduler.
- Click Assign Job.
- Search for and select the Job.
- Select one or more technicians from the staff drop-down list.
- Click Assign Job.
The split Job and the selected technicians will be created at the same time.
This removes the need to schedule the Job first and then assign technicians afterwards.
Which Method Should I Use?
Use Edit > Add Workers for this Job when assigning technicians to an existing scheduled Job.
Use the staff drop-down list when creating a split Job, allowing the Job and technicians to be scheduled together in a single step.
Best Practice
- Schedule the Job before assigning technicians.
- Assign all required technicians first, then adjust individual durations as needed.
- When creating split Jobs, assign technicians during the split process to save time.
- Review technician allocations after scheduling to ensure workloads are balanced.
