Using the Job Queue
Using the Job Queue
Overview
The Job Queue is where all approved Jobs wait before being scheduled.
Think of it as your scheduling inbox. As new Jobs are approved, they appear in the Job Queue, ready to be planned and allocated to your team.
From here, you can search for Jobs, filter the list and drag Jobs directly onto the Schedule when you're ready to begin planning.
What Appears in the Job Queue?
The Job Queue contains Jobs that are ready to be scheduled but have not yet been placed onto the calendar.
Depending on your business processes, these may include:
- Newly approved Jobs.
- Future work awaiting scheduling.
- Jobs that have been returned from the Schedule.
- Jobs that still require planning.
Once a Job has been scheduled, it is removed from the Job Queue and displayed on the Schedule instead.
Finding a Job
As your business grows, the Job Queue may contain many Jobs.
Use the available search and filter options to quickly locate the Job you're looking for.
For example, you can search by:
- Job Number.
- Customer.
- Location.
- Title.
This makes it easy to find work, even in very busy schedules.
Scheduling a Job
When you're ready to schedule a Job, simply drag it from the Job Queue onto the Schedule.
By default:
- Month Scheduler and Week Scheduler create a one-day Job.
- Day Scheduler creates a two-hour Job.
You can then resize the scheduled block before assigning technicians.
Returning a Job to the Queue
If a Job is no longer ready to be scheduled, it can be returned to the Job Queue.
Simply move the main Job block back into the Job Queue.
This removes the Job from the Schedule while keeping it available for future planning.
Note: Only the original (root) Job can be returned to the Job Queue. Split Jobs can be deleted but cannot be returned to the Queue.
Best Practice
- Keep the Job Queue organised by scheduling Jobs as they become ready.
- Use the search tools to quickly locate Jobs instead of scrolling through long lists.
- Resize a Job to its expected duration before assigning technicians.
- Return Jobs to the Queue if plans change and they need to be rescheduled later.
