Creating a New Quote Version

Before you Start

There are times when a Quote needs more than a minor correction. The scope of works may change, pricing may be revised, or the client may request alternative options.

Rather than editing an existing Quote that has already been issued, JGID allows you to create a New Quote Version, preserving a complete history of every revision.

How to Create a New Quote Version

Step 1 - Navigate to Existing Quote

Open your existing Quote.
Click Create new version of Quote.
JGID will create a copy of the Quote.

Step 2 - Make Changes to New Version

Make the required changes to the new version.
Complete and issue the revised Quote.

Note: The previous version will remain available for reference.

When Should You Create a New Version?

Creating a new version is recommended when:

The scope of works changes.
Pricing has been updated.
The client requests significant revisions.
You want to keep a record of what was previously issued.

Minor spelling mistakes or formatting corrections can usually be made by returning the Quote to Draft.

What Happens to the Previous Version?

Once the revised Quote has been issued, the previous Quote is typically marked as Superseded.

This indicates that:

The project is still active.
A newer version of the Quote now replaces the previous one.
The original Quote remains available for future reference.

If required, a Superseded Quote can be reactivated.

Why Keep Previous Versions?

Maintaining a version history allows you to:

Track pricing changes.
Review previous scopes of work.
Understand how the project evolved.
Resolve questions about what was originally offered.

This provides a clear audit trail throughout the sales process.

Best Practice

Use Return to Draft for minor corrections.
Create a New Version whenever significant changes are made after a Quote has been issued.
Mark older versions as Superseded rather than overwriting them.
Keep a complete version history for future reference.
